What Your Shirt Color Says About You: Red

Red Dress Shirts, Casual & Formal

Most, if not all, of us have a favorite color. A color that really speaks to us and that we have a special connection to. Some even purchase sneakers, wallets, baseball caps, cars and even dress shirts with this preference in mind. But whether you realize it or not, the colors you like to look at and wear say a lot about who, and how, you are as a man.

So what about red? If you just can’t get enough of your stunning red tailored dress shirts, be careful when you ramp them. A man who wears this shirt color is trying to intimidate people and look aggressive – or at least that’s how it will seem to others – so use caution when you wear a loud red shirt to work.

But this is not to say that red is entirely bad. What’s great about this color? It projects confidence in a way few other colors can. It tells everyone you have a strong and powerful virility (something not every man is gifted with). To red flag a fashion statement, it doesn’t hurt to be loud when you flaunt your style every now and then.

Reds come in a variety of shades – ranging from bright red to profound maroon. Therefore, it’s always better to shoot for tailored red dress shirts to get that perfect shade and customized style and fit that matches your masculinity.

While a darker red dress shirt looks great on those with a fair complexion, brighter shades of red should be avoided, especially if it’s been a while since you last saw the sun. Also, unless you want to change careers, and to fly to the North Pole with Rudolf, avoid bright red pants (and black boots), too.

Red with a shade of rich maroon, on the other hand, goes well with a chocolate complexion (and masculine cologne). Aside from looking healthy and sexy on this color, it gives the wearer that mysterious and stunning looks that promises a romantic evening ahead.

Before pulling out that red dress shirt, first, you might want to check if you’ve already washed your pair of black, dark blue or dark brown pants. Red matches well with darker pants, plus a pair of black leather shoes that matches the texture and color of your belt. Second, double check the occasion you’ll be attending. Red dress shirts are a big no-no during funerals, unless the deceased was your worst enemy. It’s likewise inadvisable to go for the color in conservative occasions – i.e. job interviews or meeting your girlfriend’s parents for the first time.

If you really love red, and your closet looks like a blood donation cabinet at the Red Cross, remember that it is not a color to be worn lightly. Factors like skin tone and the occasion should definitely be considered before you put on a red shirt. Yet, as proven in several studies, wearing this color signals the wearer’s determination and passion. And by the way, this will look good with your red Saleen S7 Twin Turbo or Enzo Ferrari (it’s okay, it doesn’t hurt to dream big).
